This kind of inspections are valuable in different situations such as:

  • When any kind of failure has occurred, and the failure needs to be clarified.
  • When a failure has not occurred, but the degradation phenomenon is bigger than expected during design.
  • When a mooring line is close to its end of life and a remaining life assessment wants to be performed.

Ashore testing includes not only the same scope that an offshore inspection plan (visual inspection, cleaning, dimensional control, 3D scanning, traceability) but also the alternatives such as mechanical testing, strength and fatigue test.
